Siemens Industry Software (India), a subsidiary of Siemens PLM Software, is planning to open 4 Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Karnataka. The company has signed an MoU with the Karnataka Government Tool Room and Training Center and DesignTech Systems to establish the centres. DesignTech Systems is the execution partner for the 4 Centers of Excellence and will run the centers for the first 2 years and continue to provide support for the third year. The partnership paves the way for a world-class integrated skill development infrastructure and benchmarked technical education curriculum with core focus on Industry 4.0, automation, mechatronics and Internet of Things (IOT) infrastructure. The COEs will be equipped with the latest PLM software solutions from Siemens, such as NX software for digital product design and engineering, Teamcenter software for digital lifecycle management and the Tecnomatix portfolio for digital manufacturing. It will also feature state-of-the-art industrial automation equipment from Siemens, as well as the latest computer numerical controllers (CNC), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and state of the art manufacturing machinery including CNC milling and turning machines, industrial application robotics cells, renewable (solar/wind) energy training system, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), quality assurance tools and gages, and rapid prototyping machines. According to media reports, the total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 20,318 million, out of which the company contributes Rs. 18,224.8 million and Government of Karnataka`s share is Rs. 2,193.2 million. The centres have been planned to be set up at the sub-centres of the Government Tool Room and Training Centre Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Dandeli and Mysuru. [Info as of: Jun. `17]
