The proposed project involves an equity investment in a major bank in East Africa (the "Bank"). The Bank plans to raise new equity to fund growth and comply with anticipated changes to the banking regulations in its country of domicile related to capital adequacy. IFC and the Asset Management Company ("AMC") are considering various options geared at providing up to US$ 80 million in equity to the Bank to support its capital enhancement plans.
