All India Institute Of Medical Sciences is planning an AIIMS institute at T.B Sanatorium, Mangalagiri, dist. Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 16.18 billion. The institute will be constructed in 193 acres land located between old and new national highways at Mangalagiri and will be a super speciality hospital with 900 beds. It will have 100 medical seats apart from nursing and para medical courses. Public health department and research wing will be part of AIIMS. The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) will be the mentor of new AIIMS, whose construction will be completed in three years` time. The entire cost of the construction of AIIMS will be borne by the Union government, and the state government on its part will only provide land, power and water. The foundation stone has been laid on 19th December, 2015. According to media reports, the process has started for establishing 11 new AIIMS in addition to the existing six. Each AIIMS will have 960 beds and the total number of beds from the 17 AIIMS in India will be 16,300 and it would consist of facilities like a teaching block, administrative block, AYUSH block, auditorium, nursing college and night shelter, among others.
