Project goal: To enable access to sufficient water for rice irrigation by 179 HHs consisting of 817 people, 317 women, in Mealik village to adapt to change in rainfall pattern and ensure food security. Objective 1: To improve access to adequate water for rice irrigation by 179 households. Outcome: Outcome 1.1: A canal 664 m long built, water at Oh Pakul reservoir managed with community contribution, a sluice gate built to control water for irrigation of 130 ha rice by 60 HHs of total 189 HHs in the village. Output 1.1.1: A reservoir at Maplik village and a canal 664 m long rehabilitated with the participation of community and a sluice gate built to bring water for irrigating 130 ha rice field and a project sign board built. Outcome 2.1: Capacity is built among 189 HHs in Malik village, Malik commune, Andong Meas district with appropriate farming and life skills to enable adaptation to climate change. Output 2.1.1: Farmers at Malik village received training on rice farming and other life skills to enable adaptation to climate change. Outcome 3.1: 4 existing saving groups, each consisting of 12 HHs, had capacity strengthened and helped reduce need to make loan from private money lenders and thus vulnerability to impacts from drought. Output 3.1.1: 4 existing saving groups had capacity strengthened to run and manage their operations.
