Environmental policy and administrative management

The goal of the project is the return of the Orange River Mouth (a Ramsar site) and the coastal belt to a functioning ecosystem which is appreciated and wisely managed. The project will be carried out with the undertsanding that a functioning coastal belt and Orange River Mouth can provide economic development opportunities to help alleviate poverty in the area. The project will be implemented by the NGO International Knowledge Management in partnership with EcoAfrica, the Richtersveld CPA and the National Botanical Institute. The project objectives are to support livelihood planning in the Orange River Mouth and develop a land use plan for the future management of the area while building local capacity in sustainable natural resource management.
