Project Description
The purpose of this project is to produce a publication targeted at policy makers, fishermen, tour guides, other users of the marine resources, and students, providing information on the roles of each of Belize s marine protected area, management regimes, rules and regulations, and specific benefits (biodiversity, socio-economic and environmental). Highly visual in format, the publication will be developed with the integrated participation of the fishing and tourism stakeholders, and in collaboration with the Fisheries Department and co-management agencies, through a series of concept and review meetings. These meetings are particularly important for engaging the fishing stakeholders and providing them with ownership of the publication, and will be used to reinforce knowledge on environmental services, and increase understanding of Belize s marine protected areas, zones and regulations, management regimes and the global importance, as represented through the World Heritage Site.
