This pilot project aims at testing the introduction of the Adam Retort technology / Improved Charcoal Production System (ICPS) for Yabad charcoal production in Jenin. Introducing this new technology will make charcoal production less harmful to the producers themselves as well as to the nearby residents, more environmentally friendly (less greenhouse gas emissions) and more viable in an economic sense. In parallel to introducing the ICPS, an Environmental Impact Assessment of the new technology will be made as well as a comparison between the effects of the old and the new type of production. The new and more efficient Adam retort technology is expected to better respond to an existing regional demand for the coal and improve income and employment locally.
