Project Description
Harf village is located in the extreme west Myhah region, western part of Socotra. Myaha is also known as being the driest part of Socotra. Fetching water from distance, far a way from residence requires women hard labour carrying water on their back. Rainwater harvest is the only solution to provide the community with source of water for use all year round. The community exerts long effort and hardship to solve water shortage for better living while on grazing rotation in this area. Local community planned to build five water harvest cisterns (Capacities are 95; 80; 234; 144 and 120 Cubic meters)that can hold nearly 673 cubic meters each year. Local community women and children are benefiting from better water resources availability, homestead hygiene and less efforts fetching water on their back for domestic use.
