The problem of POPs excites the public all over the world for many years. The situation is complicated due to that many people don`t even know about POPs and their harmful influence on human beeing. The problem of population poor awareness about POPs is also actual for Taraz city. As a result, universal dumps of dust are practically everywhere, being the main source of POPs in the city. The dust accumulates on the streets, near to houses, in reservoirs. The centralized processing and sorting of waste in city is absent. A part of the dust is utilized by inhabitants by burning. Daily influence of POPs can lead to serious diseases. For this reason there is a sharp need for informing citizents about the problem and about the ways it can be solved. During the project implementation a " Week against POPS " will be arranged at ecological school "Shanyrak" to set up a command of trainers consisting of 10 pupils to carry out information-educational seminars on POPS in other schools; seminars for 400 pupils of 5 schools, and 300 students of 3 higher schools of Taraz city will be arranged; 1000 booklets and 100 posters with the information about the ways to decrease POPS emissions will be distributed during actions in Russian and Kazakh languages; ecological procession "Taraz against POPs" directed on informing of the population of Taraz city about POPs will take place; regular access to the information about POPs and activities under the project will be provided by creation of a web-page about POPs, and also publications in mass media; public hearings on POPs issues will be led with attraction of NGOs, local authorities and other partners.
