Al-Ghaileen village is located in the Mountain of Bura. The village is characterized by difficult land topography, extensive terrace system, water harvest and coffee plantation. Water is the most scarce resource for domestic and agriculture uses. Women spend considerable time fetching water from springs far away from their homes with an additional effort carrying the water on their back almost in vertical slopes. This project aimed at water use efficiency for both domestic and agricultural uses. The community received grant from SGP and implemented water harvest project. The community created a revolving fund that provides cash co-financing to this project. The community expressed an extraordinary knowledge in water harvest and efficiency of water use for improving their livelihood and environment. The project would allow community to harvest and reuse some 5760 cubic meter of rain and spring water. Both women from the Al-Ghaileen village and coffee grower below the water tank will benefit from water contained in this water tank.
