Cooking Energy Saving & Livelihood Improvement- (CESLI) project will work with more than 450 families in 9 villages, 3 communes of Romeas Hek district, Svay Rieng province. The project is aiming at improving environment and livelihood of local community by introducing improved cook stove technique; establish 3 small scale enterprises of improved cook stove productions and planting more than 10,000 tree seedling. The project will also establish 18 Self-Help Groups to create community-based alternatives livelihood to reduce pressure on forestry resources. Project objectives: 1. Saving family fire wood consumption through introducing improved cook stoves and planting fast growing trees for fire wood. 2. Improving community livelihood though establishing Self-help Groups and initiative of micro-enterprises development. Expected outputs: - 300 families will participated in planting 10,000 trees for firewood consumption around their home state and other public areas. - 3 Small Scale Improved Cook stove enterprises will be established to produce at least 300 improved cook stoves for dissemination and sell to community members. - 9 community members will become improved cook strove producer. - Community members in the target area have better understanding about the advantages of Self-help groups - 18 Self-Help groups were organized in 9 target villages. - 180 SHG members were trained on technique and management of the SHG, home gardening technique and small business development. - 54 small businesses (18 groups x3= 54) will be professionally implemented by the SHGs. Project Activity: 1. Project lunching ceremony 2. Communication and sign MoU with FA on tree seedling supply 3. Selection and list of family that volunteer to plant tree 4. Conduct improved Cook stove dissemination workshop by testing improved cook stove efficiency with the traditional stove. 5. Selection of 9 volunteers to become improved cook stove producer, 6. establish working group and regulations (distribution, selling, price and benefit sharing) 7. Conduct training on improved cook stove construction for the 9 volunteer 8. Prepare and construct 3 small Improved cook stove shops 9. Distribute and sell of improved cook stove according to regulation. 10. Conduct 9 village meetings to dissemination of Saving group, revolving fund and SHG and register interesting members 11. Organised 9 village meetings to organize SHG. Each groups should have 15 members, develop group regulation. 12. Conducting training on SGP, SG and Revolving fund, book keeping, facilitating group meeting report writing and minutes of the meeting. 13. Conduct training on planning develop and manage small business. 14. Conduct training for group members on home garden technique, compost making, natural pesticide and animal rising. 15. Conduct study tour for SHG members. 16. Follow up and facilitate group members prepare and develop proposal of small business 17. Provide small grant to the approved small business 18. Project evaluation
