Project Description
Decades of conflict and turmoil have taken its toll on the environment in Afghanistan. In addition to widespread insecurity, displacement and poverty, the years of instability have also lead to the devastation of the environment: natural resources forests, waters, soil, plants and animal life have all suffered decline or even irreparable damage that has in turn lead to environmental degradation that is endangering human health and compounding poverty. However, critical public information and awareness on the topic is limited and not been taken up as a priority so far. SW therefore proposed the production of radio programs on focal areas of the UNDP GEF SGP, building partnerships and promoting policy dialogue, SW through its radio programs will seek to promote an enabling environment and a dialogue/discussion platform to bring sustainable development to the Government and Afghan public attention and address environmental issues within the context of Afghanistan through programs with participants from all the relevant Government, CBOs, NGOs and environmental activists. Through the radio program, SW will raise awareness and knowledge, changing attitude and perception, and influencing behavior through highlighting environmental impact on their communities and highlight any community-based initiatives in meeting national obligations and global commitments.
