Malawi just like many African countries especially in the sub-saharan region is endowed with natural resources that are fast deteriorating due to human activities.The natural resources in question include forests,water bodies (rivers an lakes), land,mountains/hills and wetlands just to mention a few.These natural resources collectively make a larger part of Malawi`s environment. Natural resources is one of the resources being depleted at a faster rate in Malawi due to the fact that the ever increasing human population has created a high demand for wood used for household energy.Malawi being a developing country cannot manage to provide household energy in form of electricity to its people.Other forms of energy such as solar,coal,gas and petroleum remain expensive for the Malawian population. In recent years,Malawi has experienced an influx of people from rural areas into urban thus demand for firewood and charcoal in urban areas has accelerated tree cutting for firewood and charcoal.
