Bio-diversity

Rationale Streams and other water bodies in the area have dried up due to deforestation. River banks have eroded as a result of the soil being exposed. Objectives, activities, groups involved Plant trees along the dried up water streams in the reserves that have been destroyed in order to minimize soil errosion and restore the lost green cover, encourage the people to grow fuelwood trees and use energy saving alternatives for cooking. Restoration of the natural springs in the forest reserves, Re plantation of Bamboo, Kumbuk, Kithul etc. in the river banks in order to protect watersheds. 50 poorest families have been identified as beneficiaries, who are to grow 12,000 plants of the above varieties in small nursery units and plant them at suitable locations at a later stage and maintenance.
