Environmental policy and administrative management

The areas of lower Indus Delta including Badin is facing serious problem of deforestation. There were large tracts of forests historically which have been completely destroyed due to several reasons including clearing land for agriculture, illegal logging etc. Due to the absence of the forest the environmental problems are increasing. The communities whose livelihoods were depending on forest products have been pushed towards poverty. In addition, the absence of forest has caused land degradation in the area. The water logging and salinity are common problems. The thick forests in the area were also providing shield to the floods as well as dust storms coming from the Rann of Kutch, the absence of trees have exacerbated the problem of floods. The proposed project will revive the forestry in the area. According to Government of survey, 24198 hectares of land across the Sindh come under the forests or the forest are established on that much area. About 30 % of the forests have been vanished owing to mismanagement of relevant Govt: deptt: Corruption & irresponsible attitude of all concords this essential sector. The project will be implemented in three union councils of taluka Badin of Badin district. The area is badly affected by the ill-conceived project of L.B.O.D. Project Caused devastation in the area of Eight Union Councils of Talukas Badin and Shaheed Fazal Rahu hereby turning 1.5 million acres have either been encroached by sea or affected by severe salinity and water logging. This land has lost its fertility and the potential of productivity. Project objectives: To plant trees on large scale basis to revive, promote and save environment. To rehabilitate the Southern Badin which has been severely damaged by L.B.O.D mega project, floods, draughts, cyclone and other calamities. To revive the lively hood re-sources of the population of the area to improve the same and provide them healthy environment so that may come out of dangerous and vulnerable situation. Activities to be carried out under project: To motivate the population to tree severely affected Union Council Bhugra Memon, Seerani and Luwari Sharif particulars farmers, land lards, stack holders and peasants and make them aware about the objectives. To arrange the meeting of responsive people, hold workshop. In every Union Council, to plant approximately one hundred fifty thousands trees our one hundred acres area and to safe-guard them. In every Union Council to, establish nurseries, to train the people to that the people of other Union Council may get inspiration, awareness and they establish nurseries at their own. To motivate the land lords & farness for reserving a piece of land for planting trees.
