Waste management is one of a major environmental issue in Vanuatu.The local people depending on imported goods and services resulting importation for biodegradable items. And these items disposals are often an issue to where appropriate to dispose them. Land fills are established only within Urban centres and are used for disposal of rubbish within the town municple boundaries. Througouth the island waste are readily dispose into the environment including agricultural land areas, water ways and marine areas. The project seek to detailed information on the current managment of community based waste management within the surburb of the town and seek understanding on the local people`s knowledge on hazadous waste in Vanuatu. The information will assist the local community in planning for effective intervention to address waste managment in Vanuatu including hazardous waste (POPS and ODS).
