German Technical Cooperation Tender Notice
For
Mapping and Assessing Capacity Needs in the domain of Science, Policy and Practice

1. Background

In the Paris Agreement, governments agreed that sustainable lifestyles and sustainable patterns of consumption and production will be key in the fight against climate change. India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) set eight targets for climate actions in both adaptation and mitigation until 2030 including the commitment “to propagate a healthy and sustainable way of living”. With the submission of the NDCs to the UNFCCC in 2015, there is an increased need to develop the necessary institutional capacities to implement these commitments. The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) plays a key role in the NDC implementation process, inter alia on sustainable lifestyles; and therefore, requires strengthened capacities to process relevant expert knowledge, formulate effective policy, implement and monitor it. At the same time, the exchange of Indian research on climate and sustainable lifestyles needs to be enhanced.

2. Objective

The project “Supporting the Institutionalisation of Capacities on Climate Change Studies and Actions” (ICCC), implemented by the MoEFCC and GIZ, aims to develop capacities in the areas of climate protection and NDC implementation as well as transdisciplinary issues. In this context, GIZ invites proposals for the assignment “Mapping and Assessing Capacity Needs in the domain of Science, Policy and Practice considering Multi-Sectoral and Multi-Stakeholder scope”.
